Titanic Quarter a disappointment

Published 10/08/2015

Having recently escorted a few foreign visitors around the Titanic Quarter, I came away wondering what all the fuss is about.

Apart from the Titanic Museum, Nomadic and the dry dock (a 20-minute walk away), the area is a wasteland.

The Belfast Marina has a number of boats you could count on one hand and you have to pay for the tumbleweed car park to have a coffee at the new restaurant beside the Belfast Met.

Added to this, the much-acclaimed Game of Thrones set, which is an ugly grey former H&W paint shed, leads me to believe that the local Belfast tourist centre (in whatever guise it calls itself) is wearing rose-tinted glasses glazed over with black paint, or to put it in Belfast speak, who are they trying to kid?
