Too tied up with our own bigotry

Published 24/02/2011

I think I have heard it all now. John Hussey, a DUP candidate, has advised us to treat the BNP with the contempt it deserves (Write Back, February 22).

Obviously, he doesn't mind that we continue in our tribal, bigoted manner of voting, which includes nearly 40% of the population supporting the bedfellows of those who tried for 30 years to blow us into kingdom come and which the DUP are quite happy to embrace as partners in government.

I don't think the BNP will ever electorally mount a challenge to the DUP or Sinn Fein, as we are already too tied up in our own unending bigotries.
