Tory 'welfare bashing' policy will not work
The latest 'welfare bashing' government plan to make claimants work for their benefit is typical of ideas that sound good at the Tory party conference, but they never work.
Remember the 'short, sharp shock' idea for young offenders in the 1990s? It never worked either and this will be the same.
How can a government set a minimum wage and then pay people well below it? Also: where will the work come from?
People turn up for community service to find there is little or no work for them. This daft scheme will probably be the same.
The plan will probably collapse in a year or so after millions will be spent on setting it up.
