Tragic events ought not to be politicised

Published 08/09/2016

I am sure that I am not the only one to find the piece by Suzanne Breen on the murders in Cavan distasteful.

Ms Breen appears to have confused a community's attempt to cope with a horrible and unexpected tragedy - a confusion with how one of their members could do such a ghastly thing - with some concerted attempt to defend mass murder and to attack women and children.

It appears to me that Ms Breen is attempting to politicise a tragedy in order to score points for some cause she feels part of.

My thoughts are with the people of Cavan.

I hope they find a way to understand the tragedy their community has suffered.
