Transfer survey is misrepresented
WHILE we welcomed the reference to our recent survey on P6/7 parents' views of the transfer process (News, November 19), there were inaccuracies.
First, parents' views on the transfer were but one part of a wider focus on their experiences of the transition to post-primary education and their needs. We then synthesised their views on transfer for public dissemination.
Second, the survey was completed in hard copy (through some primary schools), not just online, as was suggested in the piece.
Third, contrary to the article, Amazing Brains has not called for more transparency around 'coaching'. Some parents have.
Our survey demonstrates the palpable need for more support for parents of P6/7 children. Your headline misrepresents the findings in that regard.
