Two reformers liked wee drop
COMMENTING on the Banbridge beer festival (September 25), Malachi O'Doherty writes: "The only cultural influences out of Europe that some of our people ever notice are Calvin and Luther; fine chaps, but not known for being able to enjoy a beer." In fact, both were big fans. Luther's wife brewed beer and, when travelling, Luther complained of how terrible the beer was elsewhere. Calvin's tastes were for red wine.
