Ugly attack on harmless bug

YOUR headline about the Elephant Hawk Moth will have seriously damaged the public image of that lovely, harmless creature.

The article contains inaccuracies as to the size and lifestyle of that moth and of the Hummingbird Hawk Moth and their caterpillars.

They are just two of the many species of butterflies and moths that are an important part of our environment and food-chain.

All conservation bodies, including Butterfly Conservation, are striving to slow down and reverse the destruction of the natural environment before we reach the point of no return.
