IN response to your correspondent Reader, Carrickfergus concerning unionist 'unity' candidates (Write Back, March 13), in backing an agreed candidate in Mid Ulster, unionist parties were not asking people to vote on one issue.
Such an assertion is a myth. If Reader, Carrickfergus would read both parties' 2011 manifestos, he/she would be aware that both parties have much in common regarding social and economic policies.
Why can people not move forward by welcoming the fact that parties are coming together? We do not need to be stuck in the divisions of the past.
