Unionists again are inconsistent

Published 09/07/2015

I SEE that, once again, unionist politicians are full of contradictions.

On the one hand, Derek Hussey opposes a memorial in Strabane dedicated to the Easter Rising, because it will not commemorate the British soldiers who died in Ireland in 1916.

Yet, on the other hand, I know many unionists who take part in commemorations to celebrate American Independence Day and I have never once heard any unionist politician complain about the lack of remembrance for the British soldiers who died during the American War of Independence.

What's the difference?
