Unionists compete with Republic" >

Unionists must unite to compete with the Republic.

Finance Minister Peter Robinson has expressed his disappointment in the conclusions of the Varney Review. As Varney now moves on to his second review, unionists must make it clear that we challenge the consensus of the British and Irish Governments in building an all island economy.

Unionists should emphasise that Northern Ireland must now compete with the Republic for inward investment from the US and encourage the return of our best and brightest graduates to help rebuild our skills base after a generation of bloodshed.

Unionists must unite on the policy of competition, not co-operation with the Republic, so that we can build a shared and prosperous future for all of the people of Northern Ireland.
