Unionists need not fear Scottish independence
I read the article (Belfast Telegraph, July 10) written by Jo-Anne Dobson MLA in which she talked about attending a celebration to mark American Independence Day. She also said that the Consul General spoke of the many ties which have bound Northern Ireland and the USA over the centuries.
I know many unionists who attend July 4 events and this is where unionism gets confusing. If they have no problem attending these events why do they have such a problem with Scottish independence? Surely, if Scotland becomes an independent nation, the historic ties that have bound Northern Ireland/Ulster and Scotland for centuries will still exist?
