The recent Irish round of the World Rally Championship clearly highlighted the positive things that can be achieved with co-operation and a commitment to working together.

This was the biggest sporting event on the island so far this year and was a fantastic success, having been enjoyed by thousands of people from across the island of Ireland and having made a major contribution to the economy.

The event was made possible by many people working together, including our local politicians and other members of the community of all persuasions and none.

The professionalism of the event portrayed an extremely positive image of Northern Ireland and the island across the world and I congratulate all those who made it happen.
