Uniting all of these islands is way forward

Patrick Bamming (Writeback, March 29) was only able to take his argument on an united Ireland so far.

The proper solution would be to re-unite Ireland and Great Britain as this would greatly maximise the benefit for all on these islands.

All Patrick's "benefits" would be greatly enhanced in this scenario.

As long as this remains impossible for southerners and northern republicans to contemplate then the longer Patrick's idea remains unsuitable for unionists.

So Patrick, don't ask unionists to consider your ideas positively when you won't consider the better solution because it doesn't meet your political objectives.
