Viruses may be linked to ME

Published 19/09/2012

It is simply not true that 'viruses have nothing to do with ME/CFS', as you reported (Online, September 18).

The facts of the latest Columbia University study are that XMRV and pMLV, just two specific viruses, are not related to ME. Other viruses may well play a part.

It is clear that further biomedical research must be done into this terrible illness, which affects around 7,000 men, women and children in Northern Ireland.
