Visits will not clear Irish debt

Published 24/03/2011

It is good of the Queen and President Obama to visit Ireland, but I am sure their intentions go no further than being kind to a small country with little influence.

The benefits of any tourism that might arise from these visits will be short-lived and the country's debt will remain.

I wish that people would stop making so much of a few transient visits and sporting wins.
