War dead are not honoured by constant bullying

Published 13/11/2015

There are certain members of the public, alongside unionist politicians and most of the media, who are intent on vilifying anyone who does not wear a poppy around Remembrance Day.

But such bullying is close to the fascism against which so many people fought and died.

They fought for freedom - and that includes freedom of opinion.

I am very, very seriously considering exerting that right by not wearing a poppy when I attend the cenotaph service next year.
