We have a right to say prayers

I noted the Belfast Telegraph's front-page headline, 'Prayers for Frank as he fights for life' (February 18), informing us that Belfast comedian Frank Carson was in a precarious position in hospital.
This heading, using the word 'prayers', follows the recent coverage of secular/atheist attempts in England to outlaw prayer before municipal council sessions, which was described in some dailies as 'Christianity under attack'.
In times of personal loss or tragedy, people still resort to prayer as a means of solace.
The Belfast Telegraph correctly portrayed the feelings of the majority of people concerned for Frank Carson and his family.
The atheists, secularists and humanists have no right to attack, or deny, the most basic of human rights: the right to avail of the power of prayer.
