THE British and French should concentrate their efforts on supporting attempts to bring the different sides in Syria together.
Instead, they seem bent on a similar intervention to that which bombed Gaddafi from power.
While the ruling Ba'athist government is authoritarian, it did maintain a reasonable harmony among Syria's mosaic of peoples.
The answer lies through negotiating an end to civil war and the establishment of a government of national unity – not in stoking up the fighting.
