Now that there is an emerging debate to reduce the number of MLAs, there should also be serious consideration given to reducing the number of Northern Ireland MPs at Westminster.
Northern Ireland, prior to the Stormont Government of 1972 being prorogued, had only 12 MPs as opposed to the pres
ent 18. With the Assembly up and running the number of MPs should be reduced back to 12, particularly when Sinn Fein MPs claiming expenses don’t bother to represent their constituents on the floor of the House. Voters should boycott elections until this scandalous expenses issue is resolved.
Nationalists and unionists can unite and boycott the European elections in June.
In a democracy, people are sovereign and those representatives of the people should be awakened to this and collectively hissed at until they reform their ways.
