We need to teach the UTU some respect
I WAS amazed to hear the views of the Ulster Teachers Union on academic selection.
Apparently, many parents are 'pressurising' primary schools into teaching pupils for the exams. The UTU obviously feels that the rights of parents should be ignored.
It would appear that the UTU wants to go back to the old days where 'teacher knows best'.
They are ignoring the fact that it is the pupils and their parents who are the clients of the education process.
Some respect should be given to parents' views - after all, they are paying their wages.
