We won't give ground on national parks
Ms Anna Lo, MLA, has used your paper to tell us she has written to a number of groups to help kick start a campaign in support of national parks.
Ms Lo is well aware that a concerted campaign by the Mourne Heritage Trust, the National Trust, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and the NIEA has already been ongoing for many years in order to get a national park established in this province.
Unlike China, where farmers are asking their new administration to return their land taken from them by the previous regime, we still live in a democracy and we will not relinquish control of our land to any unelected quango.
When will Ms Lo, and others, listen?
Mourne said no. The Causeway Coast and Glens said no. Fermanagh is saying no. The Sperrins is saying no.
The farming community has had enough of DARD enforcement officers, ASSIs being foisted upon us, the spies in the sky, geo-parks and now national parks. We already farm and work protecting our environment and heritage and will continue to do so. There are no national parks on privately owned land on this island and there are other parts of the world where sense prevailed and there are no national parks. Long may NI be one of them.
