We've little to offer tourists

Published 07/05/2012

I AM not a fan of Sinn Fein, but the party's Phil Flanagan hit the nail on the head. For all the advertising and pomp, there is little to entice the tourists to Northern Ireland for more than a weekend.

I take the Belfast Telegraph's point about Carrickfergus, the Causeway Coast, Bushmills and the Giant's Causeway, but this can all be visited in one (albeit long) day. Weather permitting, of course. Unfortunately, in its current state, you could walk around Portrush in 20 minutes.

The Co Down coast and peninsula to the Mournes would take another day; Armagh, Fermanagh and the lakes a third day. Belfast would take a day-and-a-half. As for Londonderry, don't bother.
