We've no right to take moral high ground

Published 17/01/2012

We on this island should bite our collective tongues and refrain from looking down our moral noses at the disgusting images of US Marines urinating on the corpses of dead Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.

In 2005, at the annual blessing-of-the-graves ceremony at Carnmoney graveyard in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, during Cemetery Sunday, loyalist worthies from the Rathcoole estate threatened to dig up Catholic graves and urinate on the corpses in retaliation for the PSNI rerouting the Orange Order's Whiterock parade in Belfast. Lest we forget.
