Why is Army allowed to exploit kids?

There has been much comment in the media about the refusal of the Lord Mayor of Belfast to present a Duke of Edinburgh award to a 14-year-old Army cadet.

Strangely, no one has queried the morality of recruiting children of tender years into a professional killing-machine and training them in the use of deadly weapons.

The British armed forces actively recruit and groom children in the dark arts of warfare from the tender age of 12.

The whole concept of child-soldiers is an unspeakable obscenity.

One can only wonder at the silence of human rights organisations, educationalists and the Children's Commissioner in the face of such cynical exploitation of children and the stealing of childhood innocence.
