Why the sudden new speed limit?

Published 28/01/2016

It would have been nicer if the powers-that-be had given a bit more notice about the implementation of the 20mph scheme in Belfast city centre (News, January 25). I have not seen signs.

I assume that this speed limit will apply at 3am when the streets are deserted, too?

Having checked some of the statistics, central Belfast seems to be a fairly safe area in the first place.

Is this another step to keep all cars out of the city centre? Or - even worse - making it a congestion charge area?
