Writer's climate claims nonsense

Published 05/06/2015

Eamon Butler's assertion that there has been no warming for 18 years (Write Back, June 3) refers only to atmospheric temperatures.

The oceans hold far more heat and have warmed steadily throughout that period.

His point about CO2 is another half-truth. Increased CO2 levels will not benefit crops if the resulting climate change means no rainfall. Nor is increased CO2 much value if any increased yield is offset by reduced nutritional value.

If Mr Butler fact-checked his claims instead of parroting myths, he would know that climate change is anything but nonsense.
