Yacht sink claim ignores the facts
With regard to the sinking of Lord Rank (News, June 9), Robin Cardwell, the shore-based operations manager of the Portrush lifeboat, was quick to point out that the yacht "should not have been there" and that "the rocks were well-charted".
He has a selective memory. Only recently, the Portrush lifeboat was wrecked on well-charted rocks and, as no lives were at risk, the lifeboat certainly should not have been where she was. As he himself says "our job is to rescue people" - not to pass comment without facts.
