Husky-voiced Lucinda to gig here at last

Distinctive voice: Lucinda Williams
Distinctive voice: Lucinda Williams

I can understand critics and reviewers getting all worked up over Lucinda Williams and her soaring voice, but to describe the sounds this country singer makes as like bourbon being poured over broken glass is going a bit far.

One critic really did describe that voice thus. I mean, did he ever waste a good drink by pouring it over broken glass in the first place?

Anyway, I'm a fan of Lucinda who sings the blues and jazz too and writes her own lyrics, and I'm glad she will be making her first visit to Belfast on Monday, May 13, at the Limelight.

What took the lady so long; after all, she is 60 now?
