The shark tagged near the mouth of Lough Foyle last summer and tracked on its 5,000-mile journey to the coast of Senegal may have been on Mark Durkan's mind when he signed up to an early day motion in the Commons.
It calls on the Government close a loophole in the law and ban the trade in shark fins.
Seventy-three million sharks are slaughtered annually and shark populations have plummeted by more than 90%.
