View spoiled by ad

Published 22/05/2009

Since I was a child one of the most exciting views I recall was the first sighting of the sea on a day trip to Newcastle.

It appeared on the horizon on the final bend before entering Castlewellan.

I still get goosebumps from the same view. Well, I did until recently. A huge advertisement has blighted the vista.

Now all I feel is a mixture of sadness and rage. The fact that the advert is on wheels is the reason the planning department is ignoring my concerns.

If our politicians are unable

to put a stop to such eyesores, is it possible to organise a boycott of offending advertisers?
