Gary Moore was a musician who defied being categorised. Rock, blues, pop, he could master them all and did so. But what made him great was his guitar playing. He played with legends and was one himself.
But for all his accomplishments, those who met him were most impressed by his modesty. He loved music for its own sake, more than for the fame or riches it would bring him. His death in a Spanish hotel was an unseemly end for such a talent, but he has left a rich legacy of his music which will surely live for a very long time.
