Well done, Denisa
Saturday, 14 November 2009
Northern Ireland made headlines not long ago for all the wrong reasons when immigrants here were forced to flee from their homes because of racist attacks. Today there is a heart-warming story with the news that Denisa Stanova, a young Slovakian woman living in south Belfast, has won the "Face of Northern Woman" competition and has been signed up by a local modelling agency.
Six months ago she was ready to leave Belfast because of a racist attack on her home, but after spending some time in Slovakia on holiday she decided to return here to enter the competition.
It proved to be a good decision and everyone here wishes her well. Her success presents the better face of Northern Ireland that we all want to see.
