BELFAST TELEGRAPH’S £20,000 LOTTO COMPETITION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

ABOUT THE PROMOTION

 

1. I’ve seen something about winning £20,000 with Belfast Telegraph.  What is this?

To celebrate the launch of new Lotto, Belfast Telegraph is running a reader promotion to win £20,000.  The promotion kicks off on Monday, September 30 and ends on Saturday, October 12, 2013. 

 

2. How is the Lotto changing?

On Saturday, October 5, 2013 the new Lotto will launch with bigger jackpots and a brand new raffle, so now there’s even more ways to win more money

- New Lotto is £2 and now there is more than twice as much in the prize pot

- Matching just 3 numbers now wins you £25

- New Lotto will be contributing even more money to Good Causes around the UK

- As well as the jackpot line, there's now also a raffle number to check to see if it's a winner, so don't forget to check your raffle numbers too.

 

3. Will there be any other activity surrounding the launch?

The new Lotto launches on Saturday, October 5 and to celebrate there’s an unmissable £10 million jackpot and an incredible 1,000 raffle winners of £20,000

 

ENTRY

 

4. How do I enter the Belfast Telegraph’s £20,000 Reader Promotion?

For a chance to participate in the Belfast Telegraph’s £20,000 Reader Promotion draws you must:

a. Have purchased a National Lottery Lotto Ticket at a National Lottery retailer or via The National Lottery website www.national-lottery.co.uk for entry into a National Lottery Lotto draw to be held on September 28, October 2, October 5, October 9, October 12, October 16 or October 19, 2013.*

 

* Please note that tickets purchased for National Lottery draws outside these dates will not be valid for entry. 

 

b. Enter by post

i. Collect 8 out of 12 different tokens from the Belfast Telegraph printed between 30 September 2013 and 12 October 2013 inclusive (excluding Sunday 6 October 2013)

ii. Complete the details required on the entry form (including your full name, address, mobile number** and email) and your unique Lotto Ticket number from your Ticket for a Qualifying Lotto Draw. We have circled in red where on the Lotto ticket the unique Lotto ticket number is placed. (See example).  Lottery tickets purchased in-store will have 19 digits and those purchased online will only have 15 digits.***

iii. Post your 8 tokens attached to an entry form to Lotto Prize Draw, Marketing Department, Belfast Telegraph, 124-144 Royal Avenue, Belfast, BT1 1DN.  Entries must be received between 7am Monday 30 September 2013 and 3pm 21 October 2013 to be eligible.

**Please note that if you are a winner, you will be called during the day between 9am – 5pm.  Ensure that you are contactable on the number you provide during this period.

 

***Please note that your Ticket number will be checked to ensure it is a valid number for the Draw. You must keep your original Ticket (or a copy of the original), or printed validation slip as proof of purchase – this may be required to be shown before any prize is awarded.

 

5. Do I need to buy Belfast Telegraph newspapers to participate?

UK residents will need to purchase at least 8 copies of Belfast Telegraph newspaper from 8 different days during period 30th September to 12th October 2013 inclusive (excluding 6th October 2013) in order to obtain 8 tokens to enter into the promotion.

 

Residents of Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man can enter by obtaining a coupon from the Belfast Telegraph by writing to the newspaper at Lotto Coupon Request, Marketing Department, Belfast Telegraph, 122-144 Royal Avenue, Belfast, BT1 1DN.  You must include a stamped, self-address envelope.  Entrants’ addresses must be valid and will be verified.  Free entry is limited to one per person.

 

6. Do I need to buy a National Lottery Lotto ticket to participate?

UK residents will need to purchase a National Lottery Lotto ticket, valid for the following draws:

September 28, October 2, October 5, October 9, October 12, October 16 or October 19, 2013.

 

Residents of Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man can enter without purchase of a National Lottery Lotto ticket, by leaving the Lotto No. boxes on the entry form blank.  Entrants’ addresses must be valid and will be verified.  Free entry is limited to one per person.

 

7. Which National Lottery tickets can be used as part of this Promotion?

Only National Lottery Lotto tickets purchased for entry into a National Lottery Lotto draw to be held on 28 September 2013, 2 October 2013, 5 October 2013, 9 October 2013, 12 October 2013, 16 October 2013 or 19 October 2013 can be used to enter this promotion.

8. How many times can I enter?

You can enter more than once if you have more than one valid Lotto ticket number, however you will need to collect 8 tokens for each entry.****

 

****Please note if you purchase a Lotto ticket with more than 1 line that will still only count as one valid Lotto ticket.  Only individual Lotto tickets are counted as one valid Lotto ticket number to enter. 

 

9. Do I need internet access to enter?

No, this is a postal entry competition.  To enter you will need to purchase 8 copies of the Belfast Telegraph between 30th September and 12th October 2013 inclusive (excluding 6th October 2013) in order to obtain 8 tokens to enter into the promotion.  You will also need a valid Lotto ticket for the following draws; September 28, October 2, October 5, October 9, October 12, October 16 or October 19, 2013.

10. Do I need an email address to enter?

If you have confirmed that you wish to receive further information about promotions, news and events from Belfast Telegraph and/or The National Lottery, we will need your email address to send you this communication.

11. Do I need a mobile phone to enter?

We have asked for a mobile number as you will need to provide a day-time number so that we can contact you during the day between 9am-5pm if you are a winner.

12. Do I have to be of a certain age to enter?

Yes, you must be at least 16 years of age to participate in the Promotion.

13. Who is eligible to enter?

All permanent residents of the United Kingdom (including the Isle of Man) aged 16 or over are eligible to enter.

14. How long will the Promotion last?

The promotion will run daily in the Belfast Telegraph between Monday 30th September 2013 and Saturday 12th October 2013 inclusive (excluding 6th October 2013). Postal entries need to be received at the Belfast Telegraph offices by 3pm on Monday 21st October 2013.

15. I am concerned about getting unwanted emails from participating in the Promotion.

If you do not want to receive any emails from the Belfast Telegraph, then please do not tick the box on the entry form “If you would like to receive such information by email and/or text message, please tick.”

 

If you do not want to receive any emails from Camelot, then please tick the box "Please tick if you do not wish to receive the latest promotions, news and events from The National Lottery" on the entry form to opt out.

 

PRIZES AND WINNERS

 

16. Which prizes are available to be won in this Promotion?

There is one prize of £20,000 (twenty thousand pounds) to be won for the promotion.

 

17. How will I know if I have won?

If you are a winner, a representative from Belfast Telegraph will telephone you using the contact number provided on the entry form on Tuesday 22nd October.  Belfast Telegraph may also contact winners by email if provided upon entry.  If a winner cannot be contacted within 14 days of initial contact (email or phone message), Belfast Telegraph reserves the right to offer the prize to a reserve winner.

Your name / post town will also be printed in the Wednesday 23rd October edition of the Belfast Telegraph newspaper.

Please note that your Lotto Ticket number will be checked to ensure it is a valid number for the Draw. You must keep your original Ticket (or a copy of the original), or printed validation slip as proof of purchase – this will be required to be shown before any prize is awarded.

 

18. I think I have won.  What should I do?

If you are a winner a representative from Belfast Telegraph will contact you within 7 days of the draw, via the contact telephone number provided upon entry, to confirm your win. Belfast Telegraph may also contact you by email if provided upon entry.  If you receive a telephone message or an email from Belfast Telegraph to say you have won, you must make contact to confirm your win.

 

If a winner cannot be contacted within 14 days of initial contact Belfast Telegraph reserves the right to offer the prize to a reserve winner.

19. I have won, can I remain anonymous?

As part of the Terms and conditions of the £20,000 Reader Promotion players agree that by entering they acknowledge, accept and agree that if they are a winner they have no right to anonymity.  The winner’s name and post town will be printed in the Belfast Telegraph newspaper.  If you are not comfortable with this term, we would recommend that you do not enter into the promotion.

 

20. I entered using a Lotto ticket number from a syndicate ticket and it has won.  What happens now?

If the Ticket was purchased on behalf of a syndicate, it is the responsibility of the members of the syndicate to decide who will submit the unique Lotto ticket number and how any prize won may be shared. Camelot will pay any prize won to the person whose details have been used for entry. 

 

21. I won on the main Lotto draw and have already given my Lotto ticket to my retailer to claim my prize.  I have now won on Belfast Telegraph’s £20,000 Reader Promotion, what should I do?

The retailer will have handed you a printed validation slip with your winnings from the main Lotto draw, keep hold of this validation slip as it can be used instead of your ticket to claim your £20,000 Reader Promotion prize.

 

22. I can’t find my Lotto ticket/validation slip and I have won, what happens now?

Your Lotto ticket or validation slip is required in order for your prize to be awarded.  If you are unable to produce either of these upon request we will not be able to give you your prize and a reserve winner will be contacted.

 

23. When will I receive my prize?

Prizes will be awarded by cheque or bank transfer. Method of payment for the prize is to be agreed between the winner and Camelot winner services. Cheque payments will be made payable to the name supplied upon entry into the promotion.  The prize will be awarded in person by a Camelot member of staff at a date and time to be arranged with the winner.

 

24. How can I obtain a full list of winners from this Promotion?

The first name, surname and county of the winner can be found on www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk until 31st December 2013.
