Belfast twice get the better of Edinburgh

Published 19/09/2015

The Belfast Giants inflicted a pair of defeats on the Edinburgh Capitals, the second a 5-2 Elite League win that took them top of the table.

Friday's Challenge Cup match between Belfast and Edinburgh had been erroneously ended at 3-3 by the officials, and hence Saturday saw the Giants clinch a 4-3 victory in the overtime period played.

In the league meeting, James Desmarais and Michael Forney scored a brace each and elsewhere, the second-placed Cardiff Devils sneaked a 5-4 victory in overtime against the Braehead Clan, Guillaume Doucet doing the game-winning honours.
