Armagh Zone have been members of the IIBA since the early 1960s and are the second largest as well as being one of the most active.
There are two leagues, the Armagh Zone League with 27 clubs and the Churches' League, 12 clubs, plus an annual cup competition.
They have played in the Inter-Zone competitions since their inception and have been successful in both ladies' and men's events. The ladies have won the competition four times, 1989/90, 1992/93, 2000/01 and 2002/03, with the men recording one less success. They won in 1981/82, 1990/91 and 2003/04 but they followed that 2003/04 success by winning the British Isles top team competition in January 2005.
Players from Armagh have tasted success in all the national championships at least once. A special mention must be made of Pauline Cassells, who has been a prolific winner of titles at this level for a number of years.
Pauline, who plays for St Mark's, along with Martin Trainor, St Anthony's, have been the most recent of a number of players from the Zone to represent the Ireland short mat international team.
