Barry McGuigan expecting Carl Frampton Jackal Army to rock New York for Santa Cruz showdown

By David Kelly

Carl Frampton is hoping as many as possible of the Jackal Army will be able to make it to the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York on July 30 for his clash with WBA World featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz.

Tickets for the battle are now on sale, priced between $75 (£53)and $399 (£282) as Frampton bids to make history by becoming the first Northern Ireland fighter to win World titles at two different weights.

The unbeaten former WBA/IBF World super-bantamweight champion's camp know they cannot expect the 12,000 who travelled to Manchester to support Frampton against Scott Quigg to make it to the Big Apple but are nevertheless expecting strong vocal support for the Jackal.

Manager Barry McGuigan said: "We are delighted that at last the tickets are on sale because there has been a great deal of interest in tickets, not just from Northern Ireland but also England as well.

"It's not going to be easy for fans to travel but we want as many as possible to be in the Barclays Centre and tickets sold through ourselves at Cyclone Promotions will be placed together.

"I'm certain that Carl's fans will be making some noise and we know that the Irish community in New York are excited about seeing Carl for the first time."

The show will also feature unbeaten Coalisland middleweight Conrad Cummings.
