Belfast boxer Paddy Barnes wins professional debut after rival Stefan Slachev is disqualified for lifting him
Belfast boxer Paddy Barnes has won his professional debut fight against Bulgarian Stefan Slachev, but expressed disappointment at how the win came about.
The double Olympic bronze medallist won the clash in unusual circumstances after Slavchev was disqualified for lifting him off his feet.
Flyweight Barnes had been ahead of his rival prior to the incident.
The referee stopped the contest at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in the fourth round after the outclassed Slavchev lifted the Belfast man off his feet.
Barnes has expressed disappointment over what he termed a "terrible debut" on Saturday night "against a clown", but praised the support he received at the Belfast venue as "amazing".Jamie Conlan remains on course for world boxing title after victory over Hungarian David Koos
