Jamie Conlan backing promoter Frank Warren to deliver big opportunities
World ranked super-flyweight Jamie Conlan believes signing up with top promoter Frank Warren will open up the door to major opportunities over the next couple of years.
Warren also promotes Conlan's domestic rival Paul Butler and a mouthwatering battle between the two is expected to happen before the end of the year - whether for a World title or an eliminator for a crack at the championship.
Conlan, unbeaten in 15 fights, is ranked five by the WBO while Butler is slated at number four.
"Myself and Butler would be a great fight, it's been talked about a lot and I'm sure it's going to happen," said 29-year-old Conlan. "I'm absolutely delighted to have signed a promotional deal with Frank Warren who I believe is the best promoter out there and will get me where I want to be and that's a World champion.
"I'm pushing onto World level now and Frank's expertise is second to none."
Promoter Warren made it clear he intends to guide Conlan towards a World title shot. Warren said: "Jamie's a cracking talent. He's got a tremendous following that will only get bigger and bigger as he continues to build towards the World title.
"The 115 pound division is certainly livening up again and there are some great fights ahead of him and I look forward to giving him the opportunities to achieve his ambitions."
Conlan is lined up for a return to the ring on April 30 at the Copper Box Arena with a Commonwealth super-flyweight title shot against unbeaten Anthony Nelson having been mooted, while the bill also features fellow Belfast man James Tennyson in a British super-featherweight title clash with Ryan Walsh.
