Let's get it on, Carl: Lee Selby calls out World Champion Frampton

Northern Ireland sporting hero could be in for biggest payday yet

By David Kelly

Welsh star Lee Selby has called for a World title unification showdown with Carl Frampton in Cardiff, insisting it would be one of the biggest fights in the UK.

Selby, who holds the IBF featherweight title, believes a deal can be struck to face newly crowned WBA featherweight champion Frampton and that the Millennium stadium, officially known as the Principality stadium, would be the perfect venue for a fight which could attract 50,000.

Frampton has become the biggest name in the featherweight division after his win over Leo Santa Cruz and a fight with Selby could generate the Northern Ireland hero's biggest payday yet with gate receipts of around £6m alone plus revenue from television rights.

"Carl and I would do about 50,000 at the Millennium Stadium. It would be a massive fight for Britain," said Selby, who was ringside in New York to witness the Jackal's stunning weekend victory.
