Taylor in Cameron's sights, says Barry

By David Kelly

Barry McGuigan believes his most recent signing Chantelle Cameron will one day conquer Irish golden girl Katie Taylor.

Cameron has already chalked up two impressive victories and has Taylor in her sights.

McGuigan said: "Chantelle is a terrific trainer, she works so hard and she can really hit hard.

"I genuinely believe that she can beat Katie Taylor and that is a big fight that we are looking for down the line.

"All the lads in the gym have been very impressed with how she has been working and we are very excited about how far she can go."

London 2012 Olympic champion Taylor returns to the ring tonight in Brooklyn when she makes her American debut. Taylor hopes to be headlining on Irish soil in a World title fight, possibly before the end of the year.

"I'm really excited about fighting in Brooklyn," said Taylor, who faces Jasmine Clarkson over eight rounds at the Barclays Center. "New York has been very good to Irish fighters in the past and hopefully I can give people something to shout about. I feel like I'm still improving and still learning every day in the gym but I definitely feel ready for a World title fight now.

"Hopefully I can get another good win next weekend and win a World title later in the year before coming back to New York again at some point as a World champion to defend my title.

Taylor's fight will be shown on Sky on the undercard of Adrien Broner against Mickey Garcia.
