Alan going in right direction

Published 22/12/2015

Glentoran have really laid down a marker with their stunning win over Cliftonville and the early signs are that Alan Kernaghan has got the club moving in the right direction.

He comes across very well in interviews and it's clear that he won't panic after a setback.

Losing to Portadown and conceding five goals was disappointing but what a response they produced, scoring twice against Cliftonville and keeping a clean sheet.

The Reds looked the one side capable of stopping Crusaders from running away with the league title but Glentoran had other ideas and Saturday's result is an early feather in Alan's cap.

He's got young kid Jonathan Smith making a big impression but Glens fans aren't expecting miracles. The supporters will give him time to allow the club to make progress.

It's not like years ago when fans demanded title success at The Oval. The supporters simply expect total commitment from the players and if they are willing to die for the shirt then they will applaud the team. That was a hell of a result of Saturday and will give the team huge confidence going into the Boxing Day clash.
