Alan Green: Leeds still need to get on-side

Published 24/10/2012

The violence in Serbia surprised few. It doesn't need Jim Boyce to stick his publicity-seeking oar in. He’d be better employed working ‘within' Fifa to persuade Uefa that serious punishment is now long overdue.

But I was concerned too with what happened at Hillsborough.

You may have gathered over the years that I have a bit of a soft spot for Leeds United.

I shouldn't admit it but you are ‘influenced' if you are well treated by a club and I've always been made to feel welcome at Elland Road.

I certainly want Leeds in the Premier League again.

I’m delighted the authorities moved swiftly and jailed the thug who attacked Chris Kirkland but those Leeds fans that verbally abused Sheffield Wednesday boss Dave Jones must be shown that they are wholly unwelcome too.

Neil Warnock was totally wrong to usher his players to show their ‘thanks’ at the end of the game.

The Premier League probably needs Leeds back but only if they’re ‘rabble-free'.
