Alan Green: I don’t swallow Sir Alex Ferguson’s three-year retirement plan

So?Manchester United lose 6-1 at home to Manchester City having beaten Arsenal 8-2 at the same venue?Arsenal, then went on to win 5-3 at Chelsea. But none of those daft scorelines matched the one at Old Trafford on New Year’s Eve. Isn’t the Premier League absolutely, crazily, unpredictable?

Perhaps we have to reassess our previous judgments or, more accurately, our prejudices. Steve Kean IS the “magnificent” manager that other coaches, allegedly, profess him to be — like Sir Alex Ferguson and Kenny Dalglish, he is certainly Scottish — and the Venkys, far from being owners totally ignorant about the game, clearly embody football genius!

It’s not my style to be ‘uncertain’. There wasn’t a cat in hell’s chance of Blackburn winning that game or?so I thought.

But Bunn, Samba, N’Zonzi and Yakubu were all wonderful and United were awful.

You needn’t ask yourselves why I don’t do the pools anymore.

And then Villa won at Chelsea and Sunderland beat City! Crazy.
