No Munich miracle for Arsenal

And then there was one. After tonight, barring a miracle, there'll be none: British sides in the last eight of the Champions League.

I can't see any way that Arsenal can pull back their three-one deficit away to Bayern Munich. The German side is too good, the Gunners are too vulnerable.

Arsene Wenger, if he deals in reality, will have had sleepless nights thinking of how easily Tottenham carved open the centre of his defence.

Thomas Vermaelen is a very good player who plays in a Belgian side capable of surprising everyone next year in Brazil. He's just having a bad spell. But I don't care how many caps he's won for Germany: Per Mertesacker isn't good enough. Wenger should have kept on bidding for Gary Cahill.
