Saido Berahino seems to be quite the problem player
Saido Berahino denies that he is a 'problem' player. Apparently people just don't understand him.
"The people who put me down, they don't know me," said the young West Brom striker, adding: "I'm pretty sure people who know me will know I'm not the person the media are trying to say that I am..."
Okay, so what DO we 'people' know about Mr Berahino?
Well, we know that he was filmed inhaling laughing gas at the wheel of his expensive sports car outside a Birmingham nightclub last year.
We know that he was decked by his Baggies team-mate James Morrison after he refused to apologise for needlessly giving the ball away for a stoppage-time Cardiff equaliser in a relegation six-pointer last season.
We know that he has reported late - on match days - at least three times already this season.
We know that his refusal to celebrate his recent four-goal FA Cup haul against Gateshead was hugely disrespectful towards a club that has been nothing but good to him, and a clear 'come and get me' message to the Premier League's bigger fish.
Oh, and we also know that yesterday he was banned from driving for 12 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving; he'd been clocked doing a life-endangering 110mph at the time.
Berahino's churlish 'why always me?' attitude has echoes of another famous bad boy, current Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli.
Yet it has now been reported that the Anfield men are lining up a £23m deal to bring in Berahino... as Balotelli's replacement.
No, you couldn't make it up.
