David Healy: Axe for Burley was inevitable

I wasn't surprised to see George Burley leave his post as Scottish manager this week.

Ever since the Scots failed to qualify for the World Cup finals, Burley has been under huge pressure with the press hounding him.

Sadly his exit was inevitable. The 3-0 defeat to Wales just quickened the departure.

The players have to take their share of the blame for Burley’s sacking.

By the looks of things they caved in against Wales.

Listening to Graeme Souness, a highly respected figure and great midfielder, he believes the players just aren’t good enough to deliver in Scotland at present.

That being the case, Burley may have got his dream job at the wrong time.
