So, Barcelona are human after all — and wouldn’t you just know it that Jose Mourinho was the man to tame the beast.
The Special One certainly lived up to his nickname as his Inter Milan side put one foot in the Champions League final with a 3-1 first-leg win.
The tie is far from over but having gone a goal down, Jose will have been delighted to gain such an advantage.
Barca were understandably the favourites going into the tie, despite their travel chaos, but it’s the little things Mourinho thinks of that makes the difference.
He didn’t want the pitch watered which meant it wasn’t just as easy for Barca to play their normal game.
That might just have hampered them enough to give Inter the edge. The second-leg will be a cracking game and I think the Catalans will win it but whether that will be good enough to see them through is another thing.
The Italians know how to grind out results, even when they don’t play well, much like the Germans.
So for me, it could be an Inter Milan v Bayern Munich final this year.
