David Healy: Republic will pass French test

Friday, 13 November 2009

I know the Republic of Ireland are seen as our derby rivals but I’m hoping they make it through to the World Cup finals — and I genuinely believe they can.

France are obviously a quality side, but they are nowhere near as good as when they won the World Cup and European Championships, and in Dublin in front of a passionate Croke Park crowd, the Irish can certainly unsettle them just as they did against Italy recently.

I don’t see the Republic losing tomorrow and I believe they are capable of getting a result in Paris next week.

I reckon they’ll be joining England in South Africa.
