David Healy: We are ready for Wigan backlash

Friday, 27 November 2009

I’ve never played in a match which finished 9-1 to the opposition, so it is difficult to imagine what the Wigan players are going through following their crushing defeat to Spurs last weekend.

You would think that the confidence would be low but on the other hand you just know that there will be a backlash.

They will be desperate for a positive reaction after events at White Hart Lane.

And they’ll be looking for that reaction to come against Sunderland because we face them tomorrow.

We enter the fixture on the back of a 1-0 win over Arsenal so the mood is great.

Our manager Steve Bruce, though, has warned us that after good results against Liverpool and Manchester United we have come unstuck in our next game.

He doesn’t want or expect that to happen again.

Gary Neville could be key to Wayne Rooney's form at Euros
