David Healy: World Cup has not been vintage

Let's be honest, it has not been a great World Cup.

We've had too many disappointments, with big players and big teams failing abysmally.

Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t cut it while England were desperate, France disgraceful on and off the pitch and Italy just dreadful.

We certainly shouldn't fear the Italians in the forthcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.

In terms of matches, the best one early on was Germany beating England 4-1. It was full of drama, something that was in short supply in the opening weeks.

The quarter-finals had compelling moments, and Spain were fantastic in the semi-finals, but overall the tournament has been just above average.

I’d give it six out of 10, seven if it’s a really good final on Sunday.
